AMSTERDAM, UTICA AND SYRACUSE NOW ON AIRPORT BUS SCHEDULE

Albany, NY (January 8, 2001) - - - Rev. Michael A. Farano, Chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority, announced today that Adirondack Trailways will begin service to the Albany International Airport from Syracuse, Utica and Amsterdam beginning tomorrow, January 9, 2001. Trailways will be operating the daily runs in cooperation with the Greyhound Bus Line.

"The Airport has seen an increase in the number of travelers from the Mohawk Valley, Utica and Syracuse that are taking advantage of our improved service and lower fares," said Rev. Farano. "This new bus service will provide another convenient link for travelers to reach the Airport and points beyond."

Trailways will offer four trips daily to the Airport from Syracuse and Utica. Busses will leave Syracuse at 6:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:45 p.m. Two buses will make stops in Amsterdam to pick up passengers. Trailways will offer two trips from the Airport to Amsterdam, Utica and Syracuse. Fares are as follows:

One-WayRound-Trip
Amsterdam-Albany International Airport$5.75$11.45
Utica-Albany International Airport$20.00$40.00
Syracuse-Albany International Airport$29.50$59.00

Tickets can be purchased through Adirondack Trailways or at the Information Desk at the Albany International Airport.

Trailways is proud to be able to offer this new bus service to its regular and new customers that are making connections at Albany International Airport," said Paul Provost, vice president of Adirondack Trailways.

Trailways began providing bus service to the Airport from the Adirondack Region last fall. Greyhound followed with direct service from Montreal, Plattsburgh, Glens Falls and Saratoga.

Albany enplanements, the number of individuals boarding aircraft, have increased an average of 25 to 39 percent each month since May of 2000 when Southwest Airlines began operating at the Airport. The new level of competition resulted in lower fares, which have attracted a wave of new passengers, many of whom are first-time air travelers.
