Albany, NY (January 27, 2003) - - - Rev. Michael A. Farano, Chairman of
the Albany County Airport Authority today announced that Northwest Airlines
will increase non-stop service to Minneapolis/St. Paul by adding a second
daily flight to its Albany schedule. The flight will be operated by
Northwest's Airlink affiliate, Pinnacle Airlines Inc., and will begin
service between Albany and its Minneapolis/St. Paul hub on May 1st 2003. From Minneapolis/St. Paul, Albany travelers may connect to cities across the
globe on Northwest or its affiliates.
"Northwest has stimulated both the business and leisure traveler's demand
for Albany-Minneapolis service," said Rev. Farano. "In terms of numbers,
Northwest's non-stop service from Albany to Minneapolis/St. Paul has been an
enormous success and this second flight is a timely addition to meet our
growing demand."
The additional Minneapolis/St. Paul-Albany service will be operated with the
airline's 50-passenger Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ). The CRJ features a
spacious cabin with comfortable two-by-two leather seating and other cabin
amenities similar to much larger jets, such as overhead bins, a full-service
galley, lavatory, and an efficient climate control system to ensure
passenger comfort.
The new flight will increase Northwest's daily Albany departures from five
to six. The airline currently offers four daily nonstops from Albany to its
hub in Detroit and one daily nonstop from Albany to Minneapolis/St. Paul.
The new Minneapolis/St. Paul flight is now available for sale through
www.nwa.com, Northwest Airlines Reservations at 1-800-225-2525 or through
