Albany, NY (February 27, 2003) - - - United Airlines has announced it will increase service from Albany International Airport to Chicago's O'Hare Airport beginning April 7th. This will bring to four the number of daily United flights between the two cities. The additional service will begin on April 7th.
"United's additional service to Chicago will provide our business and leisure travelers an expanded selection of departure and arrival times to meet their scheduling demands," said Rev. Michael A. Farano, Chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority.
During February 2003, United's Chicago enplanements increased 9% over February of 2003. United Airlines carried 70,086 passengers between the Albany and Chicago during 2002. United accounted for 4.7% of all passengers departing from Albany during the same period. Enplanements at Albany International Airport totaled 1,476,988 during 2002.
United's commuter affiliate, United Express, accounted for another 59,872 passengers. United Express flies between Albany International and Washington-Dulles.
The U.S. Department of Transportation's annual Air Travel Consumer Report rated United Airlines the No. 1 airline in the nation for on-time performance during 2002.
