FLYING CLUB TO HOST OPEN HOUSE AT ALBANY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Condair Flyers’Five Club Aircraft On Display

Albany, NY (April 30, 2007) - - - Condair Flyers, the latest addition to the general aviation fleet at Albany International Airport, will host a special open house to introduce pilots and aspiring pilots to the advantages of joining a flying club. The Open House will take place on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Million Air terminal at Albany International Airport.

Condair Flyers is a non-profit flying club that has been in operation since 1966. Over the years, equipment has been upgraded and the club has grown to a five-airplane club with 75 active members and is now the largest flying club in the Capital District. On October 1, 2006, Condair Flyers moved its operational base to a heated Million Air hanger at Albany International Airport. The club now owns a total of five well-maintained, hangared, IFR-certified, and GPS-equipped four-seat airplanes. The aircraft include:

160hp Cessna 172 60hp Piper Cherokee Warrior
180hp Cessna 172 180hp Piper Cherokee Archer
235hp Cessna 182-Retractable Gear

Membership in Condair Flyers is open to pilots of all categories as well as those interested in learning to fly. The current membership list includes students, private, commercial, and military pilots of all ages that enjoy the camaraderie of aviation. The club significantly reduces the cost of flying by joining together to share airplanes. For example, the club negotiates a group $1 million insurance policy to protect each member. Members acquire an equity interest in the airplanes that is refunded when they leave the club.

Hourly rates for airplanes are less than those charged by commercial fixed base operators (FBO’s) and members can take airplanes for multi-day trips with no minimum daily charge. Trips over four days require approval which is generally granted. Members can reserve airplanes online for activities such as scenic flights over the Adirondacks, flight training, weekend trips to Nantucket Island or other leisure destinations, or longer trips to other regions of the country. Members can even use the airplanes for business trips.

Individuals without any flight experience can join the club and learn how to fly. Student pilots or existing pilots pursuing additional ratings or recurrent training can receive instruction in club aircraft. Fifteen instructors, four of whom are club members, have been approved to instruct members in club airplanes.
