Albany, NY (May 20, 2003) - - - The Albany International Airport, under the direction of the Department of

Homeland Security, has raised its alert status to Level Orange.

Level Orange requires the Airport to implement additional security measures.

At 3:45 p.m. today, the Albany County Sheriff’s Department began random

checks of vehicles approaching the terminal. Travelers should be advised to

be prepared for vehicle checks when planning their flights.

Other security measures have been implemented at the Airport by the Transportation Security Administration, Sheriff’s Department and Airport Authority to further ensure the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft as well as others who may visit the Airport. In most cases the additional security will be invisible to the traveling public.
