Albany, NY (July 29, 2005) - - -Albany International Airport fares rank among the lowest in the
nation according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. The latest Domestic Airline Fare Consumer
Report shows Albany is tied for ninth place among airports with more than 100,000 enplanements each
quarter. The report reflects airline ticket prices for the fourth quarter of 2004.
“This report demonstrates that the Airport Authority has maintained its commitment to
creating a competitive environment among our airlines,” said Rev. Michael A. Farano,
chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority. “This competitive spirit has resulted in
outstanding fares for the region’s business and leisure travelers.”
The report shows Albany fare prices averaged 11.9 cents per mile, the lowest price of any
airport in New York State. The following rankings are based on the average cost-per-mile on
the most popular flights at the nation’s 80 leading airports.

Albany International Airport currently offers 94 daily departures to 22 non-stop destinations
and is served by 14 airlines including nine major carriers and their affiliates. During 2004, the
Airport served more than 3 million passengers. Orlando continued to be the most popular
destination for Albany travelers during 2004 followed by Baltimore, Chicago and Las Vegas.
The Airport has undertaken a $3 million terminal expansion program that will included two
additional Security Checkpoint lanes. Construction of the project will begin in August. The
expansion program will also include the addition of up to two new food concessions to serve
travelers.
