CUSTOMER REFUNDS OFFERED TO PARKING CUSTOMERS
Albany NY -- (November 3, 1999) - - A limited number of customers
that parked at the Albany International Airport between October 7th and
October 21st will be receiving refunds. A computer glitch is believed
responsible for inaccurately billing some customer's credit cards.
.
The Albany County Airport Authority has been able to trace the error to
software and hardware installed in the airport's new parking toll plaza. The
error enabled the computer billing system to repeatedly charge some
customer's credit cards even though only one transaction took place
The airport has notified the impacted credit card companies and
arrangements are being made to provide full refunds to each customer's credit
card.
It is recommended all individuals that may have parked at the airport
between October 7 and October 21, and paid by credit card, review their
credit card bills. Should anyone discover a multiple billing for their
parking, they should contact the Albany County Airport Authority at 518
242-2209.
"The new equipment had been certified Y2K compliant but it apparently
wasn't October 99 compliant," said airport spokesman Doug Myers. "We've
replaced the faulty equipment and gone back to our reliable old credit card
billing system until we are satisfied our customers will not be
inconvenienced again."
