Albany, NY (December 12, 2001) - - - DEPARTURE, "The Shop of Capital Region Museums" at the Albany International Airport, has introduced a special gift-buying service for corporations and individuals that may be searching for unique holiday gifts. DEPARTURE will now create delightful baskets containing an assortment of special gifts featured in the shop and deliver them directly to an office or individual.

DEPARTURE offers fine hand-crafted gifts and historic materials from more than 60 of the area's finest museums and cultural institutions. DEPARTURE is located on the second level of the terminal at the entrance to the parking garage passenger bridge. DEPARTURE is now open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking will be validated for DEPARTURE shoppers.

DEPARTURE offers the opportunity to select a basket that exemplifies the unique character of our region or to customize a special basket with the assistance of our trained staff. Gift baskets come in the following sizes: Charter, $100; Excursion, $125; Business Class, $150; Executive, $200. DEPARTURE accepts American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa credit cards and offers overnight air delivery services.

"DEPARTURE's new gift basket service enables individuals and corporations to share a taste of the Capital Region's history, art and literature while supporting your local museum," said Sharon Bates, director of the Airport's Art and Culture Program.

The Albany International Airport is committed to showcasing the creative talent and cultural resources of the Capital Region. During 2000, DEPARTURE sales provided area museums and artists with over $160,000 in income.

One stop at DEPARTURE, and airport travelers can take home an Adirondack pack basket, a traditional shaker box, historic prints, books, CD's, tapes, fine hand-crafted jewelry, pottery and textiles.

DEPARTURE is located before the Airport's security checkpoint to enable both passengers and non-ticketed individuals to take advantage of the shop's wide variety of items.
