Main Terminal Expansion Project
PROJECT UPDATE - FEBRUARY 2026
Work continues on Albany International Airport’s $100 million Main Terminal Expansion Project, with steady progress across several key passenger areas.
Recent construction activity has focused on the Departure Hall, where crews are completing major architectural features, including the signature ceiling “bowtie,” new terrazzo flooring, and upgraded elevators and escalators to support improved accessibility and passenger flow. Work is also underway on the future connection to the North Parking Garage, which will provide more direct access from parking to the TSA checkpoint.
Installation of new airline ticket counters is progressing, while several new passenger amenities have recently opened, including the Adirondack Imaginarium children’s play area, the Sensory Room, and the newly renovated Business Center.

We're proud to have secured this significant funding through the Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition and the recent Congress' passage of the infrastructure bill, providing an additional $28.7 million in federal funding. Together, these resources will make our vision for a brighter, more welcoming Albany International Airport a reality.
