Adirondack Imaginarium

A New Children’s Play Area at ALB

The Adirondack Imaginarium is Albany International Airport’s children’s play area, located on the first floor of the B Concourse. The space opened in fall 2025 as part of ALB’s $100 million Main Terminal Revitalization Project, offering families a welcoming place for children to move, explore, and recharge before their flight.

Inspired by the natural and cultural heritage of New York’s North Country and the Adirondacks, the Imaginarium reflects ALB’s role as a gateway to the Capital Region and the Adirondacks. Developed in partnership with the Wild Center, the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center, and local sculptor Gracelee Lawrence, the space blends hands-on play, art, and education in a setting that is distinctly New York.

Features include an Eagle’s Nest play structure, an interactive floor game that follows a bald eagle through the seasons, and a panoramic Adirondack landscape photograph drawn from the Wild Center’s tree canopy walk. A vibrant mural by David Fadden, paired with a video of the traditional Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address, highlights Indigenous culture and the interconnectedness of the natural world.

At the center of the space is Apple of Your Eye by Gracelee Lawrence, a modern sculpture inspired by natural forms that invites imagination and curiosity—giving young travelers a sense of the landscape and cultures that define the region they’re traveling through.

Traveling with kids? We welcome you to stop by the Adirondack Imaginarium and enjoy a moment to play and recharge before your flight.
